সোমবার কেরালা বিধানসভায় প্রধান নির্বাচন কমিশনার (সিইসি) জ্ঞানেশ কুমারকে তাঁর পদ থেকে অপসারণের দাবিতে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে একটি ঐতিহাসিক প্রস্তাব পাস করা হয়েছে। এর মাধ্যমে, ভারতের নির্বাচন কমিশনের সর্বোচ্চ সাংবিধানিক পদে থাকা কর্মকর্তাকে অপসারণের জন্য আনুষ্ঠানিক আইনগত সুপারিশকারী দেশের প্রথম রাজ্য হয়ে উঠেছে কেরালা। প্রস্তাবটি পাস হওয়ার পর মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ভি. ডি. সতীশান সামাজিক মাধ্যমে এই সিদ্ধান্তকে ঐতিহাসিক বলে বর্ণনা করেছেন এবং বলেছেন যে, কোনো অবস্থাতেই নির্বাচনী প্রক্রিয়ার নিরপেক্ষতা ও বিশ্বাসযোগ্যতার সঙ্গে আপস করা যাবে না।
Keralam makes history.
For the first time, the Keralam Legislative Assembly has passed a resolution seeking the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner.
The integrity of our electoral process is non-negotiable. Serious concerns over voter roll revisions, the disenfranchisement of eligible voters, and the impartiality of the Election Commission cannot be ignored.
Through this historic resolution, Keralam has put forward three clear demands:
1. Restore voting rights: Address the irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and immediately restore the voting rights of all eligible voters who have been wrongfully excluded.
2. Remove the Chief Election Commissioner: Initiate proceedings to remove the Chief Election Commissioner, whose impartiality has come under serious question.
3. Reform the selection process: Reconstitute the Election Commissioners’ selection committee to include the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and the Chief Justice of India, ensuring the independence and credibility of the institution.
The right to vote is the foundation of our democracy. No institution can be allowed to undermine the constitutional rights of our citizens.
Our stand is unequivocal. The right to vote must be protected. The Constitution must be upheld. Democracy must prevail.

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ৩টি দাবি পেশ করেছেন
মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ভি. ডি. সতীশান বলেছেন যে, এই ঐতিহাসিক প্রস্তাবের মাধ্যমে কেরালা কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার এবং জাতির সামনে তিনটি সুস্পষ্ট দাবি পেশ করেছে। প্রথম দাবিটি হলো যোগ্য ভোটারদের ভোটাধিকার পুনরুদ্ধার করা। সতীশান বলেন যে, বিশেষ নিবিড় পুনর্বিবেচনা (এসআইআর) প্রক্রিয়ার কথিত অনিয়ম অবশ্যই সংশোধন করতে হবে এবং ভোটার তালিকা থেকে ভুলভাবে বাদ পড়া যোগ্য ভোটারদের ভোটাধিকার অবিলম্বে পুনরুদ্ধার করতে হবে।
দ্বিতীয় দাবিটি হলো প্রধান নির্বাচন কমিশনারকে (সিইসি) তাঁর পদ থেকে অপসারণের প্রক্রিয়া শুরু করা। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর মতে, সিইসি-র নিরপেক্ষতা নিয়ে গুরুতর প্রশ্ন উঠেছে, যে কারণে তাঁর অপসারণের দাবি করা হচ্ছে।
তৃতীয় দাবিটি নির্বাচন কমিশনারদের মনোনয়ন প্রক্রিয়ায় পরিবর্তন সংক্রান্ত। সতীশন নির্বাচন কমিশনার নিয়োগকারী নির্বাচক কমিটি পুনর্গঠনের আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন। প্রস্তাবে বলা হয়েছে, এই কমিটিতে প্রধানমন্ত্রী, লোকসভার বিরোধীদলীয় নেতা এবং ভারতের প্রধান বিচারপতিকে (সিজেআই) অন্তর্ভুক্ত করতে হবে।

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri @vdsatheesan, the Keralam Legislative Assembly has passed a landmark resolution seeking the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner and the restoration of voting rights of all eligible citizens wrongfully excluded during the SIR process.
This is a firm stand for the integrity of our democracy, free and fair elections, and the constitutional right to vote.
Keralam will always protect the voice of the people.We will continue to protest unitedly against the BJP’s murder of democracy. Under the leadership of LoP Shri @RahulGandhi and INDIA bloc leadership, we will struggle to protect the constitution, which we consider as our unifying faith.

নিজের পোস্টে কেরালার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেছেন যে, ভোটাধিকারই গণতন্ত্রের ভিত্তি। তিনি বলেন, কোনো প্রতিষ্ঠানকেই নাগরিকদের সাংবিধানিক অধিকার খর্ব করার সুযোগ দেওয়া উচিত নয়। সতীশান জানান যে তাঁর অবস্থান স্পষ্ট: ভোটাধিকার রক্ষা করতে হবে, সংবিধানকে সম্মান করতে হবে এবং গণতন্ত্রকে সমুন্নত রাখতে হবে। তিনি আরও বলেন যে, কেরালা অবাধ ও সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচনের পক্ষে দৃঢ়ভাবে অবস্থান করছে।
